Procurement

(general) The complete purchasing process from definition of requirement through to delivery of the goods/service

(specific) In the context of CYC's service it is the process starting with obtaining detailed work-lists, the tendering of these requirements to suitable suppliers (yards, manufacturers etc) choosing the suppliers based on cost and response analysis, and the application of a formal 'contract for services' with the successful supplier.

RFI

Request For Information - a document distributed to appropriate suppliers containing a basic definition of vessel and work required and a request for specific information detailing their capabilities. The responses will be used to draw-up a shortlist of suitable and interested suppliers who will receive the RFP.

RFP

Request For Proposal - a document distributed to short-listed suppliers with a detailed worklist and the terms and conditions that will form the basis of the contract for the refit/purchase. Response to the RFP will include a detailed financial quote and completion date based on the work list.
