Are you a yacht management company?

No - our primary role is to manage the planning for the refit not manage the boat itself. We strive to minimise the amount of hands-on management needed during the work, and allow the Captain/Owner to focus on quality control. Should the client require additional support, however, CYC is able to assist.

We believe the best manager is the person that knows the boat and the work that needs to be done. We are here to facilitate the refit not to interfere with the operations of the yacht.

We aim to significantly reduce the opportunities for conflict by anticipating and negotiating key terms before any work commences and we set clear, obtainable goals for the yard - our expertise allows yourself or your Captain to remain in control of the refit,

Why should I pay you to do this if my Captain can do it instead?

Your Captain is a highly specialized professional - his job is to manage your boat and crew. CYC is a team of experienced yachting professionals AND high-level procurement specialists offering commercially-proven systems and documentation.

Given the complexity and cost of a major refit it is highly unlikely that an individual with little training or experience in Services Procurement and Contract negotiation will achieve the significant benefits our service provides.

Can I use certain parts of your service or only as complete package?

 We pride ourselves on providing a bespoke service to our clients. If you require market research or bid-management without the contractual infrastructure we can provide you with a ‘custom’ package.

However to reap the full benefits of our expertise we strongly encourage our clients to consider the full service.

Why should my yard work with your clients?

Our process provides and facilitates communication and understanding between all parties. Not only does this make your job easier throughout the refit but by significantly reducing the opportunities for disagreement it also means increased customer satisfaction leading to referred and repeated business.

 We require that all bidding yards strictly adhere to our response format which is designed to ensure a "level-playing field" when quoting for work.  By anticipating problem areas before work commences, we are able to negotiate terms agreeable to all parties from the outset, providing the yard with the opportunity to perform the refit in the confidence that their requirements (including prompt payment) are met.

 

Do you take 'incentives' from yards to recommend them to your clients?

Absolutely not.

Honesty and transparency are fundamental to the successful execution of our service.  Our company is independent of any boatyard, broker or management company and shall remain so.

It is this independence than means we can offer impartial and pragmatic advice to our clients without fear of sanction from any supplier or partner.
