James Barrett, Director
James first learned to sail as a small boy amongst the whirlpools of the Bristol Channel, UK. James spent 14 years working as a professional sailor (9 years as Captain) in the US and Caribbean. He was awarded his RYA Yachtmaster (Offshore) in 1993 and completed his DoT Deck Officer training at Warsash Academy in 1999. James recognised that increased commerciality and formal purchasing processes were desperately needed within the luxury yacht industry in particular for refits/rebuilds. This led to the team behind CYC coming together in January 2000 to begin work on the concept.
James is currently based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he spends his limited free time playing guitar, sailing and cooking.
Ian Watson, Director
Ian graduated as a classical musician and qualified as a Software Engineer. This was followed by a successful career within IT Services in London and Amsterdam. Ian began initially in a technical sales role, but later moved into management positions with leading roles in formal procurement processes – securing, bidding and negotiating high-value service contracts and partnerships with companies such as IBM, HP and Cable and Wireless.
Ian has been obsessed with sailing for as long he can remember - warm water deliveries and many years cruising in the South West/Channel areas of England have not yet blunted this enthusiasm. Excuses commonly used for time wasting include being a keen cook, gardener, guitarist and Patrick O'Brian devotee.
Peter Watson, Contracts Executive
With 30 years in the international aviation commercial and contracts business, including senior management experience with Airbus and with British Aerospace in VIP customisation activities Peter knows how to exceed the very highest customer expectations and standards through sensible commercial arrangements, effective negotiation and proven processes.
Despite a lifetime working in the aerospace industry Peter is a keen sailor and boat owner. Sailing from the rugged windswept coastline of south Devon he is often to be found riding out North Atlantic depressions in the comfort of his marina berth.
