We are acting on behalf of the boat owner - there is no cost to the boat yard.
The contract is structured to ensure prompt payment at pre-agreed 'deliverable' points and at job completion.
We also negotiate fixed time scales for both parties so there can be a significant reduction wasted dock space which could be earning money for the yard.
Our experience in anticipating and addressing possible problem areas before work has commenced should have a significant effect on the levels of dispute with clients and associated legal costs.
Integrity
We tightly control the bidding process so each yard is quoting on exactly the same terms - no opportunity for less scrupulous yards to create artificially low bids.
All yard and bid information is strictly confidential.
Our process needs multiple yards competing honestly to create a level playing field - it is very much in our own interests to ensure this happens.
Approval and Inspection points
The owner or his representative is responsible for signing-off and making part-payment for completed work at pre-agreed stages throughout the refit. If the owner requires an independent (perhaps MCA) assessment at a milestone point it will be anticipated in the work-schedule and will therefore reduce delays and embarrassment.
The existence of these inspection points also helps avoid the knock-on delaying effect of early problems, and reduces the chances of potential issues to the yard arising after the boat has departed.
